The header includes the page number, the author’s last name and the chapter title. This makes it much easier for the reader to locate chapters and just generally gives a more professional ‘publication-type’ feel. (In order to have separate headers for each chapter you need to create a ‘section break’ after the previous chapter by going to the Insert tab in MS word and then clicking next page in section breaks (not in page breaks-otherwise it won’t work’. Once you do this, when you insert the header, de-select ‘link to previous section’- only then will that particular section/chapter have a distinct header. The page numbers will be continuous from the previous section unless you specify otherwise’).
